TRIM TRAIL MANUFACTURED OUT OF ECO FRIENDLY, LOW MAINTENANCE RECYCLED PLASTIC
Our trim trail equipment for school playgrounds – also called fitness trails or adventure trails – are unique in that they are not manufactured and supplied as the standard round timber posts that you see in so many school settings. The Hideout House trim trail play equipment range is instead supplied from recycled plastic materials which has numerous benefits to a school. These are as follows:
- This material will never rot or decay even when dug into the ground (so many timber posts will always rot and decay when they are secured below ground due to the wet ground conditions, thereby limiting their useful life)
- Recycled plastic will last a lot longer than timber – five times so in fact
- It is environmentally friendly as the material is 100% processed using recycled plastic milk bottles – this is especially important in these times when so much plastic is causing such a problem to the world’s environmental balance
- It will not splinter or crack so no nasty surprises or injuries to children who use it. Rounded timber posts always suffer from a lot of cracking as the timber natural dries out from the centre or pith of the wood through what is known as radial cracking
- Plastic is hard to vandalise as it is less flammable than traditional timber and is resistant to most chemicals
- Virtually maintenance free as it does not rot or corrode so there are so huge savings to be made over the life cycle of the play equipment
We have designed some recommended packaged ranges of adventure trim trails which are featured on this website or we can alternatively tailor a trail to your school’s specific needs, budget or space. The majority of our recycled plastic play equipment is low level which means that there is no requirement for safer surfacing but we can advise fully on this when proposing our products. And we can supply safer surfacing which includes wet pour, artificial grass, lawnmat (grassmat) or bonded rubber mulch.
We have other playground products such as play towers, sandboxes, planters and playboats which are manufactured out of recycled plastic – these can be viewed by clicking on the link below

If your school is interested in the whole issue of re-cycling and you want to learn how teachers and staff can implement this successfully, it is worth looking at the link below from the Eco Schools website.
