We were given quite an interesting brief by this school in Hampshire who were wanting to develop their outdoor learning and forest schools programme at the school. The project started off with just simple discussions about an outdoor classroom with some additional eco options but it soon grew into something quite a bit more spectacular!
By the main school entrance, there is an area which was suitable for what we wanted to build – namely an enclosed outdoor classroom which is built around an existing tree in the middle which is then linked by a 10m long elevated walkway to a 5m treehouse on stilts! This is also totally enclosed on all sides and has French doors to the front elevation so can easily be used all year round.
This has to be the ultimate in outdoor classrooms!
We have also supplied to the school a “mud kitchen” building which has opening/closing louvre panels to the side, two sets of barn style double doors to the front and window panels to the back. This is also getting great use already and many a baked mud pie has already been produced!
Both of these buildings are manufactured out of premium grade cedar with cedar shingle tile roofs.
