We are able to offer different kinds of safety surfacing which are dependent upon the site conditions, the type of play equipment being used and of course the budget. Below are the surfacing options you might want to consider but we can certainly offer advice once we have discussed your options and undertaken a site survey:
Rubber “wet pour”
A ‘wet-pour’ surface is a blended mix of rubber granules bound together with a single part polyurethane resin, having been mixed on site in a specialist mixer and laid on an existing suitable or specially prepared bases, to provide a virtually continuous surfacing. It is most commonly installed as a two layer system with the wearing course, always normally being a nominal depth of 15mm, with the ‘shock pad’ base depth being variable to meet with the CFH requirements of any play equipment.
Our wet-pour surfacing is an in situ laid resin bound rubber crumb surface and is tested to comply with BS : EN 1177 : 1998
Benefits Of Wetpour Surfacing:
• Safety: Tested to BS EN 1177
• Low-maintenance
• Durable: Tested to BS 7188 for Abrasive Wear (Unaged) • All Weather • Porous
• Options of many different colours and brightly coloured graphics
Lawn Mat or Grass Mat
This is a rubber square tile system which is laid onto a mesh and is bound together with ties to stop any lateral movement. This surface can only be used for grass based installations and is a good and cost effective way of providing an adequate safety surface. It is also very quick to install and requires no “curing” times.
Rhino Mulch Surfacing
This is made from 100% recycled rubber tyre shred, which is then colour coated using our industry leading process. Our Premium Bonded Rubber Mulch which should not be confused or compared to standard rubber mulch systems that are widely offer, often at cheap rates. As with most things in life, you generally get what you pay for.
The system we offer is the only system to be developed solely as a bound surface, and not just rubber mixed with any type of binder which can give variable results. Our binder has been carefully formulated to work specifically with our tightly controlled blend of shred, this of course is unique within the bound rubber mulch market. All components are manufactured together to work together, with a commitment to ongoing technical advancements.
Please check the suitability of this product prior installation as we do not recommend its use in all applications. We advise a dynamic sub base and edges in all applications where budgets and site condition permit, but it can be laid over most existing surfaces, but we offer no guarantee as to the performance of any existing sub base, nor its suitability. Heavy usage will result in flaking but unless mechanical means are used to remove parts of the surface, the integrity of the surface for fall height considerations will be maintained.
Artificial Grass Carpeting
Artificial grass gives your school playground an attractive and natural looking surface for all year round use. This surface can either be installed as a single lay in high use playground areas prone to turning to mud or dirt or it can be used as an impact absorbing safety surface up around play equipment up to critical fall heights of 3m.
Loose Fill
High grade bark surfacing is a relatively cost effective and natural type of safety surfacing but it is prone to being relatively high maintenance. It compacts down over time and therefore requires a topping up re-fill in order to comply with the regulations. We would therefore recommend our rhino mulch surfacing as a suitable alternative.
