The governors and staff of this primary school in Brighton were looking for a new outdoor classroom building to act as an outdoor learning hub for their children. The brief was as follows:
“The Senior Management Team and Governors seek design proposals for a proposed new outdoor learning space to accommodate a minimum of 20 pupils.
The building should create a “wow factor” and inspire children to learn and achieve their full potential
A traditional rectangular classroom design should be avoided in favour of perhaps a hexagonal fully weather-tight building”
This is the sort of project which we very much warm to as we always like to present our wow factor credentials! Having pitched against other companies, we were lucky to be chosen as the supplier with our Hideout House outdoor classroom. This building very much has a distinct and unique design to it and has been likened to a Hobbit house which is exactly what the school was looking for. They wanted a building which would inspire their children to learn within it.
The building is manufactured out of high quality cedar with a cedar shingle tile roof and is 5m in diameter. It also a front decking area and has ample internal space for a class of 30. The building was installed within a week so there was minimal disruption to the school.
The school have reported that it is regularly used every day and that all original purchasing objectives have been met.
