Mud, sand and water form the basic raw materials for purposeful play and children can experiment without being constrained by the one right way to use it.
We are increasingly using recycled plastic as a default material for these type of products – the simple reason is that recycled plastic can withstand a lot more wear and tear, will not rot or decay (like timber when exposed to sand, water and mud every day) and will last five times longer. You can see on the gallery pages opposite some of these products we have recently introduced using this material which requires minimal on-going maintenance.
Children always have a natural affinity to water play and because it is naturally fascinating, it can be both educational and fun. Thoughtfully prepared, a water play feature within a school environment can encourage cognitive development and teach children about conservation, physics, re-cycling, maths and science concepts. Children are about to learn about floating and sinking and seeing that different objects can both sink and float. In maths, children are able to learn about measuring a certain amount of water into a bucket, more and less by filling one bucket with more water and one with less water.
The pulley and bucket product is a construction play item which can be added to most sand and dig pits or water play areas to add a new dimension to interactivity.
The small interactive water wall is science and fun all wrapped into one – this water wall needs plumbing but can be placed virtually anywhere.
Water play also encourages creativity as children can use their extensive imaginations when playing with water. Interactive and sustainable, children can learn about cause and effect using the hand pump and moving elements.
Our sandpits come in three different standard sizes – namely 1.5m x 1.5m, 1.7m x 1.7m and 2m x 2m. They can either sit directly onto the floor or we can elevate them slightly with legs to allow for easier access. These sandboxes also allow for a special vinyl protective cover and in a lot of cases, we also supply a canvas canopy to go over them to afford more protection from the British weather.
We offer a range of mud kitchens with accessories as well but the majority of these are now supplied in recycled plastic due to the reasons listed above.
Please have a look at the gallery below to see some examples of previous work and then give us a call to discuss a particular product or idea. Most of our water play products are supplied on a bespoke basis so don’t worry if you don’t see what you are looking for or have in mind. We are even working on a product which produces hydro power!
